How much does a wake cost in Perth?
It depends on the room, the day, how many people come, and the food and drink. Some examples from the venues’ own price lists: Claremont Yacht Club’s Function Pack 2026 lists wake packages at $25, $30 or $35 a head. Swan Yacht Club’s Celebration of Life Package is $25 a person (standard) or $30 (premium), with complimentary venue hire. How many people can a wake venue fit?
It varies a lot. Of the 60 venues, 42 publish a seated figure and 42 publish a standing figure. Of the 42 with a seated figure, 34 say they can seat 100 or more, and 13 can seat 200 or more. The numbers in this guide are the largest each venue publishes, usually for its biggest room, so ask about smaller rooms for a smaller wake. The guests filter above narrows the list by size.
Do wake venues have private rooms?
Most do: 58 of the 60 venues say they have a private room or space; the other 2 do not say. Some spaces are only semi-private, such as part of a bar, so ask whether the room is closed off from the public. Tick Private room in the filters above to see only venues that say they have one.
What food is usually served at a wake?
Finger food is the most common. Of the 60 venues in this guide, 30 mention platters and 25 mention canapes, while 23 mention set menus and 19 mention buffets. How soon should I book a wake venue?
Call the venue as soon as you know the date of the funeral and roughly how many people are coming. Some venues in this guide ask for food orders, payment or final numbers some days before the event, so ask about their deadlines when you call. Your funeral director may also be able to help.
What is a celebration of life?
A celebration of life is a gathering to remember someone by sharing stories, photos, music, food and drink. It can follow a funeral, take the place of a formal service, or happen some time later. Many people use the words wake and celebration of life for much the same thing, and some venues in this guide call their wake package a celebration of life package.
